Draymond Green says Blazers had 'doubt,' Damian Lillard fires back

Damian Lillard has had more individual success against the Warriors than perhaps anyone else.

He scored 38, 40 and 51 points against Golden State in three of his four regular season meetings, and torched the Warriors again for 40 and 10 assists in his team's blowout Game 3 victory on Saturday.

So, when Draymond Green said that the Blazers had "doubt" in the first quarter before Golden State allowed them to gain some confidence, Lillard was anything but hesitant in firing back with his response.

"That team -- they had doubt," Green told reporters afterward, via ESPN. "You could just tell they were unsure about everything that they were doing in the first quarter. Then all of a sudden, like I said, you get a couple of offensive rebounds, hit a couple of shots, that's when the crowd gets into it. That's kind of what happened for them. I think right there in that first quarter, they felt like they were on the ropes and we didn't really take advantage of that."

"I don't know what kind of games he playing, but we don't play games over here," Lillard said Sunday. "There was never any doubt in our minds, but maybe he needed to tell himself whatever he needed to tell himself. There was never any doubt; if there's any doubt you don't beat a championship team. If that's what he has to tell himself, then that's perfectly fine."

Green is always going to say what's on his mind. But Lillard isn't about to let a negative remark about his team go unchecked, especially after singlehandedly dragging his Blazers back into the series.
