Ed Davis will opt out of contract, but hopes to return to Lakers
There weren't many bright spots during a rough year for the Los Angeles Lakers, but the play of Ed Davis in the frontcourt was certainly one of them.
Davis played so well, in fact, that he's confident he'll find the free agent market to be a little friendlier than it was this past offseason, where he was only able to land a two-year deal at the league minimum with a player option on the final season.
Here's Eric Pincus of the Los Angeles Times with more:
Ed Davis will opt out of the second year of his deal with the Lakers before July, foregoing $1.1 million for a shot at a bigger contract.
"I'm going to test free agency," Davis told The Times in a telephone interview. "Hopefully I'm back with the Lakers, as long as everything is equal with all the other teams."
