Robin Lopez may be overlooked, but his high volume of offensive rebounds and blocks are ideal for a value play in FanDuel NBA leagues.
Robin Lopez doesn’t give up many clean looks at the rim.
In fact, no player in the NBA is more of a deterrent to shooters than Lopez. Even though he plays 28.4 minutes a night, tied with Kyle Korver for the 92nd-most in the NBA, Lopez is contesting 17 shots a night, 2.4 more than any other player in the league.
Opponents are shooting 5 percent below their season average on all shots inside of the 3-point arc when being defended by Lopez.
The Los Angeles Lakers found out just how much of a nuisance Lopez can be, as fell just short of registering his first career triple-double. Lopez finished the night with 10 points, nine rebounds and eight blocks, the highest individual block total in the NBA this season.
Two games before his standout performance against the Lakers, Lopez rejected six shots against the Denver Nuggets, tying him with five other players for the third-highest single-game total of the 2016-17 campaign.
The lofty number of rejections aren’t a fluke, as Lopez ranks seventh in the league in blocks per game at 1.9.
Ever since he arrived with the Chicago Bulls, Lopez has been erasing mistakes, even his own in preseason contests.
On both ends of the floor, Lopez manages to put himself in great position to make a play, leading to his high rejection totals and exceptional offensive rebounding numbers.
More from Hoops Habit
Lopez has pulled down 89 offensive rebounds this season, the fourth-most in the NBA and his average of 3.9 per game has only been surpassed by Dwight Howard and Hassan Whiteside this year.
In each of his 23 appearances for the Bulls, Lopez has managed to grab at least one offensive rebound and has totaled four or more offensive rebounds in five of his past seven games.
Despite being the fifth-leading scorer in Chicago, at 9.7 points per game, Lopez is a viable FanDuel NBA roster option because of his hustle statistics.
With a valuation of $5,100 Tuesday night, eighth-highest among available centers, Lopez is an ideal addition to any FanDuel NBA lineup, as he has posted 20 or more fantasy points four times in his past five games.
The contributions of Lopez may be unnoticed by most, but his play has been ideal for the Bulls. Fantasy basketball players can capitalize on his exceptional offensive rebounding and shot blocking abilities.
