Five prospects the Phoenix Suns might draft with the No. 13 pick

The Phoenix Suns didn't catch any lucky breaks in the NBA Draft Lottery, as they'll have the 13th overall selection on June 25th.

Who could the Suns target with that pick? It's tough to say, as Phoenix has a strange combination of depth and needs as the offseason approaches. With multiple free agents on the roster (Brandon Knight, Gerald Green, Brandan Wright) and with Markieff and Marcus Morris facing legal uncertainty this summer, the Suns could have holes at multiple positions.

With that in mind, Phoenix may take a best player available approach in the draft and hope that someone high on their board falls to their selection. Here are five prospects the Suns might draft with the 13th overall pick.

1. Frank Kaminsky, PF, Wisconsin

It's tough to get a feel for where the Naismith National Player of the Year will end up being selected, but the Suns might not hesitate if he lasts this long. Kaminsky could provide a similar level of production that Channing Frye did two seasons ago in Phoenix, spacing the floor for slashing point guard Eric Bledsoe and center Alex Len. Kaminsky can do a little bit of everything offensively, making him an ideal stretch big man. Defensively there are concerns about who he'll guard, but he'd fit right in with Phoenix's uptempo system.

2. Mario Hezonja, SG, Croatia

It seems unlikely he'll last this long, but you never know. Hezonja is another sweet-shooting wing, and at 6-foor-8, he'll cause some matchup problems out on the wing. A perimeter trio of Bledsoe, Knight and Hezonja could be incredibly difficult to guard, and might be a much more playable version of the three-guard lineup Phoenix had some temporary success with last season. It seems likely that Phoenix will be targeting perimeter shooting wherever they can find it, and Hezonja would be a steal at this point in the draft.

3. Kelly Oubre, Kansas, SG/SF

We saw what Andrew Wiggins was capable of after leaving Bill Self's system, and there's reason to believe Oubre could breakout in the pros as well. Oubre is a natural scorer with ridiculous length who could potentially start at small forward for the Suns for a long time. He has everything you look for from a physical makeup standpoint, and despite receiving limited minutes in his lone year at Kansas, he was still productive. He may take a little longer to develop than some of the other prospects, but he has an incredible amount of potential that's worth betting on at this point in the draft.

4. Devin Booker, SG, Kentucky

Phoenix's three-point shooting fell off completely after trading Isaiah Thomas and Goran Dragic at the trade deadline last year, so giving Eric Bledsoe a spot-up shooting threat on the wing makes a lot of sense. Booker seems to be one of the safer picks in the draft, even if his upside as a pure scorer is a bit limited. If the Suns decide they need shooting on the wing, it's hard to argue against using a pick on Booker, who could slot at shooting guard right away and produce.

5. Sam Dekker, SF, Wisconsin

If Frank Kaminsky is off the board, perhaps the Suns will look at his Wisconsin teammate instead. Dekker still has a ways to go as a pure shooter, but he's a very confident player who is capable of attacking the rim and being aggressive within an offensive system. Phoenix might not feel like a great fit, but there's a need for size and athleticism on the wing if Gerald Green leaves, and Dekker had solid role player potential as a player that does a lot of different things well. If none of the previous players listed fall, it's easy to see Dekker being the choice.
