George Karl: Kings have to 'stay strong' with Cousins injured

Published Nov. 29, 2015 11:10 p.m. ET

It's fair to say that the Sacramento Kings are generally in big trouble when DeMarcus Cousins doesn't play. This season, for instance, the Kings are just 1-7 in games Cousins has missed. And with the big man officially listed as questionable for Monday's game against the Dallas Mavericks, there could be more trouble on the horizon in Sacramento.

But according to coach George Karl, there's one thing the Kings can't do -- panic (via the Sacramento Bee):

It's a sentiment echoed by Sacramento guard Rajon Rondo:

And while it's fair to preach patience and calm, the schedule isn't easy for the Kings in the coming days. After the Mavs, Sacramento faces the Celtics, Rockets, Thunder and Jazz.

“I think you’ve just got to stay strong,” Karl said. “This is the time of the year where Cuz has missed (eight) games. We’ll get back on the right track, but right now we’ve got to hopefully get healthy with Cuz, and once he gets in the lineup, I think we’ll get our confidence in a good direction.”

“Never too high, never too low,” said guard Rajon Rondo. “It’s a long season There will be ups and downs; it’s a roller coaster. Hopefully we can get this thing smoothed out pretty soon.”
