The Charlotte Hornets’ D-League affiliate, the Greensboro Swarm, selected five players in the 2016 NBA Developmental League Draft.

The NBA Developmental League held their 2016 Draft and the Greensboro Swarm took part for the first time. This season will be the first time the Charlotte Hornets have a D-League affiliate. The team selected five players that were in the D-League draft pool.

The Developmental League draft includes six round with the first four being mandatory. Greensboro held the 13th overall pick in the first round of the draft and selected 13th in every round. While many fans are unaware of these prospects, they are talented players that can grow and improve in the D-League.

More from Swarm and Sting

    First Round: Shonn Miller

The Greensboro Swarm selected Shonn Miller with their first round pick. He is a 6’7 forward out of the University of Connecticut. The small forward averaged 12.3 points per game and 5.2 rebounds per game in his senior year at UCONN.

    Second Round: Ky Howard

Greensboro took Ky Howard out of NJIT with their second round selection. The 6’4 guard averaged 12.7 points per game, 4.6 rebounds per game, and 4.5 assists per game in his senior season. The 23-year old looks to be somewhat of a combo-guard.

    Third Round: Mike Anderson

With their third round pick, the Swarm selected Mike Anderson out of the University of Washington. The 6’4 guard last played with Raptors 905 of the D-League last season but only appeared in one game despite being drafted in the first round of this draft last year. He averaged 8.3 points per game and 6.1 rebounds per game two years ago in his senior season in college.

    Fourth Round: Ron Mvouika

Greensboro chose Ron Mvouika out of St. John’s University with their fourth round pick. The 6’6 guard/forward offers versatility for the team. He averaged 8.5 points per game and 4.0 rebounds per game last season in college.

    Fifth Round: Keala King

The Swarm selected Keala King with their final pick in the draft. (They didn’t use their sixth round pick) This may be the most intriguing pick in the draft but the 6’5 guard out of Pikeville has a chance to prove himself in the D-League. He last played in the Philippines averaging 20 points per game and 9.6 rebounds per game.

These prospects should feature with the Greensboro Swarm during their inaugural season. We’ll keep a close eye on these players and update you on their play throughout the year. It is unlikely that any of them will play for the Charlotte Hornets but stranger things have happened. One of these young guys could be the next star as a late bloomer.
