Strength’s:
Versatility:
Giles is a freak athlete with great size at 6’11”. He has the ability to guard multiple positions off of switches, which is a crucial attribute to have coming into the NBA. Giles also has the offensive game that allows him to play both power forward and center. In a league where small ball is taking over, having a quick big man like Giles could help any roster.
Two Way Potential:
At just 18 years old, Giles has a solid post scoring game. Advanced skills in that area are vital to a young player’s development, as they have a certain move to go to if they need a basket. On defense, Giles’ length and foot speed gives him defensive potential through the roof. If he pans out, Giles could be one of the best all around big men in the NBA.

Weaknesses:
Injury History:
Giles has had three serious knee surgeries already in his young career. That is a significant red flag for any team that wants to draft him. Many promising players have failed to pan out due to an inability to stay on the court. Teams will most certainly have their doctors check out Giles’ knees before they even think about taking him.
Inexperience:
Due to an injury Giles suffered late in his high school career, the forward had to miss the first part of Duke’s season. Adjusting to the college game, and coming back from an injury caused Giles to start slow out of the gate. Once he gets more time on the court, look for Giles to settle in to a role that will showcase his talents.
Overview:
Giles is one of the most intriguing prospects this year. His skills and measurable’s could make him one of the top players in the class. However, the injury history, and the fact that Giles hasn’t broken out of his early season struggles makes it hard to justify teams taking a big risk on him come draft night. Hopefully he will get more opportunity at Duke, so we can see the full arsenal of this young big man.
