Iconic LeBron banner in downtown Cleveland is getting a championship upgrade

At the beginning of the 2014-15 season, the NBA began recognizing each team's championships with a gold tag on the back of the players' jerseys.

And after the Cavaliers brought the city of Cleveland its first professional sports title in 52 years, the iconic LeBron James banner that hangs on the side of a downtown building will be updated with something similar, according to a report from the Associated Press.

The new banner is expected to be installed Friday, just a few days before the Cavaliers begin their title defense at home against the Knicks on Oct. 26.
