Irish WR, David Robinson's son, has all-star support in campaign video
Corey Robinson is well-known in South Bend, Ind., as No. 88 for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish football team. He's also known as the son of Hall of Fame basketball player and San Antonio Spurs legend David Robinson.
If all goes as planned, Corey, a junior wide receiver, will also be known as something else: Notre Dame student government president.
Corey announced his intention to run in late January. It's campaign season and like any good politician, Corey has reached out to influential people for endorsements. And boy, did he get some all-star support in a video that's making the Internet rounds.
Those throwing their support behind Corey include Oakland Raiders defensive end and former Fighting Irish football player Justin Tuck, Spurs point guard Tony Parker, Spurs forward Tim Duncan, who has mastered the art of self-parody, and finally longtime rocker Jon Bon Jovi.
For the candidate running on the opposing ticket, well, good luck with that.
According to Notre Dame's student newspaper, The Observer, Corey is pursuing a major in the Program of Liberal Studies with a sustainability minor, and said his academic schedule would allow him to devote most of his energy to the commitments on both the football team and within student government.
The paper reports that the amount of academic credits Corey has earned would allow him to graduate in May, but he has added a business economics minor that will preserve his status as an undergraduate, a requirement to become president.
