Jamal Crawford wins Sixth Man award for third time
Los Angeles Clippers shooting guard Jamal Crawford was named the NBA's Sixth Man of the Year for a record third time, the NBA announced on Tuesday.
Crawford, who will be a free agent this summer, also won the award in 2010 and 2014. He also broke his own record for oldest (36) to receive the award, which he set in 2014.
The Clippers' guard received 51 first-place votes and 341 total points from a panel of 130 media members, beating out Golden State's Andre Iguodala (288 points, 33 first-place votes) and Oklahoma City's Enes Kanter (182 points, 19 first-place votes).
Crawford averaged 14.2 points per game this season for the Clippers, who had to weather a long stretch without star forward Blake Griffin. He also shot 90 percent on his free throws.
With Griffin out, Crawford picked up even more of the offensive slack and was the team's third-leading scorer (15.6 PPG) during the three-month stretch, according to USA Today. The Clippers managed to go 26-13 without Griffin and lock down home-court advantage against the Portland Trail Blazers, whom they lead 1-0 in their first-round series.
