James Harden doesn't need his old Nikes, so he gave them to his mom
While Houston Rockets guard James Harden is now an Adidas athlete, it took him a little while to stop wearing Nikes this offseason. He was repeatedly spotted in Jordans and Roshes leading up to his Adidas contract kicking in on Oct. 1.
It seems that the Beard has finally gotten that all out of his system, however — and that his closet is bereft of anything rocking a swoosh. Instead, all of his old Nike shoes now belong to Harden's mother (via Sole Collector):
"I gave them to my mom and told her to do whatever with them," Harden said in an interview with Sole Collector during the 2016 NBA All-Star weekend. "I don’t need them anymore."
Given the sizable shoe collections sported by NBA players, we're guessing that Harden's mom is now swimming in shoes. But he probably won't miss the kicks, because when Adidas welcomed Harden to the family, they did so by literally backing up a truck of shoes to his front door:
No word yet on what will ultimately become of the shoes, but it's a pretty safe bet that charity will be involved. Maybe Kanye West will take them to try to make amends with Michael Jordan?
