Jason Thompson plans on 'smiling' and 'winning' with the Warriors
Perhaps no one upgraded their playing situation more than Golden State Warriors big man Jason Thompson this offseason.
Thompson started the summer with the dysfunctional Sacramento Kings, where he played for "seven coaches in seven years" and had over "180 teammates," Thompson told the Associated Press.
Thompson was traded to the Philadelphia 76ers, his hometown team and arguably the worst roster in the league, on July 9. Thompson described that situation as "bittersweet," as he dreamt of playing for the 76ers while growing up, but also values winning and wanted to join a contender.
On July 31 he got his wish and was traded to the Warriors for forward Gerald Wallace.
Now, Thompson can't wait to compete for a title — Thompson has yet to make the playoffs in seven seasons — with the defending champs.
''I want to be smiling and winning,'' Thompson said. ''I'm probably going to be smiling more and not having to worry about those types of things.''
