John Wall and DeMarcus Cousins talk about playing on the same team 'all the time'

Following the Washington Wizards' 101-95 victory over the Sacramento Kings on Monday evening, the team's two respective superstars — John Wall and DeMarcus Cousins — embraced for a postgame conversation.

Back in 2009-2010, Wall and Cousins spent a single season playing together on a dominant Kentucky Wildcats team that, despite being upset in the Elite Eight of that season's NCAA tournament, still ranked as the second-best team in the country.

Fast-forward to 2016, and the two might be up to joining forces again — as they confirmed to The Washington Post's Candace Buckner:

“We talk about it all the time,” Wall said with a smile. “Just trying to figure out what’s going to happen, you know what I mean? [Cousins] loves where he’s at and I love where I’m at, so whatever we feel like gives us the best opportunity to win — I know what our [team] is here and what I want to do here. And it’s something I keep in my mind. We’re trying to figure it out now."

And then the follow-up answers by Cousins:

“[Do we] talk about playing with one another? Is that your question?” Cousins asked a reporter, then grinning big just like Wall, “It’s come up.”

“They’re going to all come to Sac ... come to Sac!

Though Wall, whose father has roots in Washington, takes a more tempered approach:

“Just trying to figure out what’s going to happen, you know what I mean?” Wall said. “[Cousins] loves where he’s at and I love where I’m at, so whatever we feel like gives us the best opportunity to win — I know what our [team] is here and what I want to do here. And it’s something I keep in my mind.”

Is it possible? Sure, a trade is logistically feasible. But Wall and fellow 2009-2010 Kentucky Wildcats star teammate Eric Bledsoe (whom Cousins also mentioned) are under contract in Washington D.C. and Phoenix, respectively, through the 2018-2019 season. Thus, the three all signing somewhere as free agents will have to wait until at least then. Sorry, Boogie.
