Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook rank in the top 10 of NBA 2K16's overall ratings

Oklahoma City Thunder stars Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook each rank in the top 10 of NBA 2K16's overall player ratings.

Durant, who rates as a 91 overall, finished second in the small forward rankings behind LeBron James (94):

There's nothing to argue with here. James is the best player in the league, and Durant is one year removed from his memorable 2013-14 MVP campaign -- it's a no-brainer.

Where some Thunder fans might have a problem is the overall ratings. Durant is fifth, behind James, Stephen Curry (93), James Harden (92) and Anthony Davis (92).

Granted, Curry, Harden and Davis are the three cover athletes for NBA 2K16, so they're going to get an artificial boost. Curry has at least proven himself -- he's the 2014-15 MVP and champion. But Harden and Davis are less established -- even though Harden's Rockets surprisingly made the Western Conference finals this past season -- and it's difficult to say they're better than a healthy Durant.

Moreover, Westbrook (89 overall rating) comes in at No. 3 in the point guard hierarchy, behind Curry and Chris Paul (90 overall rating).

Thunder fans will say that Westbrook, who finished as the league's leading scorer last season, is on par with or better than Paul, and they certainly have a case. It's a tossup. 2K gave the slight edge to Paul -- perhaps because Westbrook is the cover athlete of 2K's competitor, NBA Live 16 -- but it's close.

The No. 7 overall players seems a little low for Westbrook, but it's tough to argue he's better than any of the players on the list.

Nowhere to be found on the top 10 list of power forwards is Serge Ibaka, though it's easy to make a case that he's just as good as Paul Millsap (83 overall rating), who clocks in at No. 10 on the power forward list.
