Kevin Durant says the Warriors beat the Thunder in one area that caused the collapse
The Oklahoma City Thunder became the 10th team to blow a 3-1 series lead in NBA history as the Golden State Warriors put the finishing touches on the Western Conference finals on Monday.
The Thunder battled throughout the series, sticking with the defending champs in the final three games. But Golden State eventually got the better of Oklahoma City, setting up an NBA Finals rematch with the Cavs.
A somber Kevin Durant poured over the stat sheet at the postgame news conference and diagnosed exactly where it all went wrong for the Thunder.
"They beat us from the 3-point line the last two games," Durant said. "We beat them from everywhere else, they beat us from the 3-point line. That was the series."
The Thunder went a combined 10 of 50 from deep the last two games of the series while the Thunder hit 38 of 82 from beyond the arc.
Durant now has a decision to make this summer. He'll become an unrestricted free agent July 1, and the Thunder will have to try to convince him that coming back to Oklahoma City will give him the best chance to win that elusive title.
