Kings' Cousins: 'I'm kind of used to change,' gives reporter one-word answers

Las Vegas has been a popular destination for Sacramento Kings big man DeMarcus Cousins this summer. He's spent time working out in Nevada, changing things up from his typical routine that has him spending his summers in Los Angeles, and he came out to watch the Kings participate in some summer league games, as well.

Now, Cousins is back in Sin City for the Team USA minicamp this week. And while he's there, he's naturally talking to reporters -- well, mostly, anyway.

Cousins spoke with a small group of media on Tuesday, and he answered questions from several reporters with thoughtful, lengthy responses. He spoke openly about how things are going with coach George Karl, his perspective on all of the media reports from this summer, and how he's handling the roster moves and chaos of the offseason:

"There's been a lot of change, but honestly, I'm kind of used to change," Cousins said. "Every year there's been something different. So I just try to come in with a positive mindset, get on the right page and try to win some games."

"My main focus every year is to win. And that's not going to change," he added.

But there were also some peculiar moments during the exchange. Cousins gave Ailene Voisin of The Sacramento Bee short, terse answers to any questions she asked. A complete transcript of his responses to her questions:

"Yeah."

"Maybe."

"I did. It was great."

"No."

This exchange will likely get interpreted in any number of ways, but Keith Jougantos notes that Voisin has not hesitated in criticizing Cousins in her coverage of the Kings. Whether Cousins' reticence is a result of anything more than previous interactions between the two is impossible to say.
