Kings owner reportedly believes Karl never wanted Cousins

The Kings appear to be at a crossroads. With their star player DeMarcus Cousins reportedly being floated in draft day trade proposals, Sacramento could be facing another rebuild.

But it's not just on the court where there appears to be some uncertainty. Owner Vivek Ranadive and head coach George Karl have a "deeply strained" relationship, according to reports from Sports Illustrated and the Sacramento Bee.

Karl was hired in February, but many wondered how he would mesh with Cousins, who was openly upset about the team firing former coach Mike Malone. Now, according to reports, Ranadive believes that Karl never really wanted to make it work with Cousins.

Cousins also appears far from pleased with Karl. The All-Star power forward sent this cryptic tweet when reports first surfaced that he was on the trading block.

And Cousins sent another one minutes after the latest reports.

Yahoo Sports/FOX Sports 1 NBA Insider Adrian Wojnarowski reported Wednesday that the Kings and Los Angeles Lakers have exchanged the framework for a deal involving Cousins. Ranadive has insisted that Cousins is not on the trading block but Cousins might force the team's hand at this point.

Kings forward Rudy Gay doesn't appear to be amused by all of these reports.
