Knicks Trade Rumors: Carmelo Anthony Won't Let Phil Jackson Trade Him
Phil Jackson’s attempts to trade Carmelo Anthony have only strengthened his resolve. Anthony is reportedly telling his New York Knicks teammates he won’t leave.
It’s become common knowledge that the New York Knicks are attempting to trade Carmelo Anthony. Not only has Anthony been involved in incessant trade rumors, but Phil Jackson has adopted public forums for his criticism of Anthony.
Due to the no-trade clause in Anthony’s contract, however, the only way that he’ll be traded is if he wants to be.
Jackson recently took to Twitter to praise an article that objectively evaluated Anthony’s inability to evolve into a championship-level player. It was yet another thinly-veiled attempt by Jackson to either motivate or isolate Anthony.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical, Jackson’s attempts to trade Anthony have only strengthened his resolve.
New York Knicks president Phil Jackson’s public campaign to pressure Carmelo Anthony into waiving his no-trade clause is working to harden Anthony’s resolve to remain with the franchise, league sources told The Vertical.
“[Jackson’s] underestimating ‘Melo’s willingness to stay,” a source familiar with Anthony’s thinking told The Vertical.
For those who question the validity of this rumor, it must be noted that Wojnarowski is one of the most respected reporters in the NBA.
