Since Wednesday, most of the country’s top draft-eligible players have been in the Windy City, playing some 5-on-5, going through some drills and getting some things measured for the NBA Draft Combine.

Future NBA Hall of Famer Kobe Bryant is apparently not a big fan of the event, taking to Twitter to share his opinion

I wonder how Larry Bird would have done in the nba draft combine #ThinkBoutIt

Bryant, obviously, is inferring that Bird, one of the league’s best players ever, would not have done well at the NBA Combine, which places a strong emphasis on athletic and physical measurements, and not actual basketball.

And that’s probably true. But actual basketball is played now at the NBA Combine, and the athletic and physical measurements can be useful if they’re used as part of the evaluation process, and not the entire measuring process.
