Kobe Bryant, Will Ferrell help Los Angeles' case for 2024 Olympics in new video
Where will you be in 2024?
That's the central theme of the latest video in Los Angeles' campaign for the 2024 Summer Olympics, which features Los Angeles Lakers superstar Kobe Bryant, actors Will Ferrell and Jessica Alba, and mayor Eric Garcetti, among other famous Angelenos, promoting the city over the course of two-and-a-half minute video:
The ad features scenic shots of Los Angeles, several Angelenos making their claim for why Los Angeles is great and what they'll be doing in 2024, and the hopes and dreams of a few young and aspiring Olympians.
Ferrell adds humor with his trademark deadpan, making a promise he probably can't keep:
"In 2024, we'll finally be in flying cars," Ferrell says. "I know that for a fact."
Bryant, on the other hand, plays it more cool and serious, getting the find quote:
"In 2024, we're going to be rolling," Bryant says.
The video ends with Ferrell humming John Williams' "Olympic Fanfare and Theme," and saying, "You know," after he semi-butchers it.
Los Angeles unveiled its logo last week, and now has another campaign video to use in its bid. A recent poll by Loyola Marymount University and KPCC claims that 88 percent of Los Angeles residents are in support of the Olympics being held in Los Angeles.
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) will vote and select a host city in September 2017. Rome, Paris and Budapast are the other three candidates besides Los Angeles.
