Koufos says Kings have playoff talent, calls Karl one of NBA's best
He's yet to step on the floor for the Sacramento Kings. But from the sound of things, big man Kosta Koufos is ready and raring to go. And he says that Sacramento has a chance to do big things next season.
Koufos is getting ready to play for Greece in EuroBasket 2015, but he stopped by the SiriusXM NBA Radio podcast earlier this week to share his opinion on the Kings roster and on coach George Karl. On the latter, Koufos was effusive in his praise, and he seemed genuinely excited to play for Karl. Koufos called his new coach one of the best in the NBA, in fact:
And Karl's ability to get the best out of his players could help the Kings surprise people, according to Koufos. He said he believes that this team has the talent to make the playoffs, even in the Western Conference.
Koufos is probably right; there is a lot of talent on this Kings roster. The unfortunate truth, however, is that not all of the talent is currently at its peak (sorry, Rajon Rondo). If the team can put everything together in an optimal array, then maybe Sacramento can include itself in the playoff conversation. But it won't be easy for Koufos and the Kings.
