Lakers React to Craig Sager's Passing
On Thursday, Dec. 15 the NBA lost a basketball icon unlike any other in Craig Sager. The Lakers organizations shared their condolences on social media.
Just when it looked like this year couldn’t get any uglier than Craig Sager’s suits, the world lost another tremendous talent. Sager, at the age of 65, passed away this morning after a hard fought battle with cancer. Mr. Sager was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia in 2014.

For 40 years, Sager had graced the hardwood for Turner Sports in his, er–”fashion forward” suits. Turner president David Levy expressed his admiration for Sager in a statement confirming Sager’s passing.
While he will be remembered fondly for his colorful attire and the TNT sideline interviews he conducted with NBA coaches and players, it’s the determination, grace and will to live he displayed during his battle with cancer that will be his lasting impact. Our thoughts and prayers are with Craig’s wife, Stacy, and the entire Sager family during this difficult time. We will forever be Sager Strong.
The Lakers organizations have also expressed–and will likely continue to express–their thoughts on the late Craig Sager throughout the day:
