Houston Rockets guard Marcus Thornton was an important part of the team's plans early on in the year, playing big time minutes in smaller lineups.
Over the last few games under new head coach J.B. Bickerstaff, however, Thornton has been phased out of the rotation as the Rockets get healthier up front.
Thornton has two DNP's in the last five games, and after only playing 10 minutes against the Pelicans, Thornton let Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle know about his frustrations:
“It’s very difficult,” Thornton said. “I have to keep myself in the game, see what’s going on from afar from the bench. When I get in, keep doing what I’ve been doing my whole life, put the ball in the basket. I have no reason at all. That’s the frustrating part. You don’t know. You have to go with whatever is going on and be ready.”
Thornton has played well in the playing time he has received, and it's possible Houston turns back to him and plays him more substantial minutes going forward.
