Michael Kidd-Gilchrist will represent the Hornets at the draft lottery

Does it really matter who represents a team at the NBA draft lottery? The Cleveland Cavaliers might say so after their recent run of luck and No. 1 overall picks; at the very least, it can't hurt to have the right smiling face at the podium when the results are announced.

For the Charlotte Hornets, that face this year is Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, the team's defensive heart and soul.

“I’m excited to attend the lottery on behalf of our team,” Kidd-Gilchrist said, according to the Hornets' official website. “I look forward to being in New York and hopefully bringing us some luck.”

“I remember a few years ago watching the lottery trying to figure out where I might end up,” he added. “It’s an honor to now be there representing my team.”

With the ninth-worst record this season, the Hornets will most likely pick ninth, naturally, at 81.3 percent. There's an 87.6 percent chance Charlotte's pick is at least in the top ten, with a 6.1 percent chance of a top-three pick.

If you're really shooting for the moon, the Hornets have a 1.7 percent chance of the No. 1 overall pick.
