Michael Malone loved coaching his daughter's team because he knew he wouldn't get fired

Some coaches take time off when they've been fired, especially when it happens early in the season, as it did to Michael Malone. Yet Malone is a coach down to his marrow, and after a few weeks of vacation, he hopped right back on the coaching horse – of his daughter's fourth grade team.

A downgrade in talent and resources? Definitely. But as he told Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated, it was the best job in the world for a very specific reason:

"But, I kid you not, that was probably the most fun I've ever had coaching. And maybe it's because I knew I wasn't going to have an owner coming down, firing me because we weren't playing a certain style of play that he wanted."

As it turns out, Malone is just as good at throwing a jab as he is drawing up a play.
