Mike Malone is the latest coach to interview with the Denver Nuggets
The Denver Nuggets want a proven head coach. Mike Malone wants another shot at being a head coach after being fired from the Sacramento Kings earlier this season. According to Marc Stein, the Nuggets have interviewed Malone for their head coaching vacancy.
While Malone had some success in Sacramento, it's still a bit of an odd fit. Malone is a good defensive coach, but isn't renowned for a fast-paced offense, which the Nuggets want. Then again, Malone also showed the ability to relate to even his most difficult players like DeMarcus Cousins – something Brian Shaw was never able to do. Still, these are all qualities also found in Melvin Hunt, who'd likely come at a cheaper price and with built-in local support.
