Before a day filled with basketball, some of the NBA's biggest names took a moment to reflect on the life and history of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. to help contextualize his impact.

Sacramento's DeMarcus Cousins explained that King was determined to make a change and difference in society. Indiana's Paul George discussed King's obvious passion; Kobe Bryant focused on King's understanding of culture and his inspiring ability to unify people. Portland's Damian Lillard mentioned King's courage while Miami's Chris Bosh talked about his ability to promote non-violence.

"As a kid growing up in inner-city Chicago, I needed a dream," NBA star Dwyane Wade said in the video. "I needed someone to believe in. The inspiration for me hearing his belief and his dream -- and to see some of it come true -- I knew that my dreams could come true as well."

The last shot of the video is a powerful image of a political rally where countless men, women and children stand behind a sign that reads: "Martin's Dream is Forever."

As usual, the NBA will feature a busy schedule of games -- kicking off with 76ers against the Knicks at 1 p.m. EST. The day's slate will also include the official release of Lillard's first music video.
