NBA Trade Rumors: With Capela Out, Rockets To Explore Trade Market
NBA Trade Rumors: With the loss of Clint Capela, the Houston Rockets will do their due diligence in the trade market to find help
The Houston Rockets have never shied away from using the trade market in order to improve their roster. From all indications, it looks like they might have to explore that option again fairly soon.
Houston’s starting center, Clint Capela, is expected to miss 4-to-6 weeks due to a leg injury. Sitting behind Capela in the team’s depth chart is only Montrezl Harrell and Nene – and we know what the Nene’s story suggests over the last few years.
So, it isn’t surprising to hear that the Rockets will explore the trade market in order to improve the roster, or at least try to.

Sources: With loss of Capela, Rockets probing trade market on available bigs. Most likely scenario: Turning minutes to Nene and Harrell.
Sources: Rockets still waiting for final medical intel on Capela leg injury, but bracing to be without him for 4-to-6 weeks.
Problem for the Rockets is, the trade market for a starting-caliber center isn’t exactly robust. The biggest name on the block is actually Nerlens Noel. And while he would actually be a solid addition to the Rockets, I’m not sure Houston has the assets in order to get a deal done with the Sixers.
Another name that has been out there is Omer Asik. However, a reunion between the Rockets and Asik is probably something that will never happen. Much less when he has $30-plus million remaining on his contract after this season.
As the report stated, the most likely scenario is that Nene and Harrell will see expanded roles over the course of the next month or so. There could be a real issue if they have to deal with another injury from one of their bigs. That’s when it could get interesting.
Expect the Rockets to do their due diligence in the trade market. There just isn’t much out there.
