NBPA VP Carmelo Anthony 'skeptical' new CBA will be agreed upon by deadline

New York Knicks forward and NBPA vice president Carmelo Anthony is “skeptical” that a new collective bargaining agreement will be reached before Thursday’s deadline, he tells ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne.

The NBPA and owners must agree to a new CBA before Thursday’s deadline for players to opt-out.

“I’m skeptical of something getting done,” told ESPN. “Do I think something could happen by the 15th? Yeah I think something could happen. But I think this kind of put a dent in conversations...We had something so close. We were supposed to have a deal done weeks ago, and for this to happen at the 25th hour is tough.”

For weeks an agreement was assumed, so this is a potentially concerning bit of news.
