New York Knicks: Derrick Rose Injured Against Phoenix Suns

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 7:56 p.m. ET

New York Knicks point guard Derrick Rose missed two games due to a back injury. The injury resurfaced during the Knicks’ game against the Phoenix Suns.

When team president Phil Jackson traded for Derrick Rose, he understood that it was a calculated risk. The New York Knicks needed a point guard and Rose provided both reasons for intrigue and reasons for concern.

Rose has rewarded Jackson’s faith during his appearances in 2016-17, but the injury concerns are beginning to be justified.

Rose is averaging 19.4 points per game over the course of his past 11 appearances. He scored 25 points the last time out, but got off to an 0-of-6 start against Phoenix before ultimately leaving due to an injury.

During the first half of the Knicks’ road game against the Suns, Rose was forced to leave due to back spasms.

Exactly one week prior to the Suns game, Rose left the clash with the Miami Heat due to back spasms.

Rose has come back with a vengeance, displaying the explosiveness that made him a fan favorite before his injuries. His aggressive drives to the rim have endeared him to Knicks fans, but they may have also cost him physically.

Rose never had back issues before this recent string of incidents, but it’s no longer an isolated incident.
