Nike unveils its latest signature sneaker for Kevin Durant, the KD9
NEW YORK -- Kevin Durant will be wearing one of the wilder versions of his signature sneaker that Nike has ever created when he laces up the KD8 Elite model for his run through the NBA playoffs.
But once the Thunder's season is finished, Durant will begin to focus on the task ahead for USA Basketball as the squad competes in the 2016 Rio Olympics. And Nike already has the next iteration of his sneakers ready to go for Durant to debut this summer.
The KD9 was unveiled at a massive media event in New York on Wednesday, and features the company's popular Flyknit technology on the upper of one of Durant's shoes for the very first time. An all-new full-length Zoom Air unit which was three years in the making provides cushioning and support, and the sole's design helps maximize natural transitions, while making this model one of the most flexible yet.
Nike designer Leo Chang introduced the model, and went through specifically what makes it so perfect for Durant's game. The KD 9 releases on June 20 at a reported price of $150.
