Pelicans' Eric Gordon expected to miss 4-6 weeks following finger surgery
METAIRIE, La. -- The New Orleans Pelicans say Eric Gordon is expected to be out for four to six weeks following successful surgery Wednesday morning to repair his fractured right ring finger, which affects his shooting hand.
The starting shooting guard was injured during the third quarter of New Orleans' 114-99 victory over Minnesota on Tuesday night.
Gordon has averaged 14.9 points and has hit 101 3-pointers in 41 games.
Jrue Holiday, who has been serving a reserve point guard role, says he's prepared to play shooting guard if coach Alvin Gentry decides to put him in the starting lineup.
The Pelicans, who were four games out of the final playoff spot in the Western Conference entering Wednesday's action, next play at home Thursday night against Detroit.
