Detroit will retire Billups' number during Wednesday night's home game against the Nuggets, for whom Billups also played.
Billups played for seven teams -- the Nuggets, Timberwolves, Celtics, Clippers, Raptors and Knicks -- but most of his success came as the point guard of the Pistons, for whom he played eight seasons. He averaged 16.5 points and 6.2 assists during that stretch. He also helped lead Detroit to six consecutive Eastern Conference Finals appearances, reaching the NBA Finals in 2004 and 2005. He was the 2004 NBA Finals MVP.
