Rajon Rondo breaks one Kings record, has another on the horizon
It might have taken overtime, and it might have come in a loss. But Rajon Rondo has his name in the Sacramento Kings record books after Monday's 127-122 game against the Charlotte Hornets.
Rondo broke Reggie Theus' Sacramento-era record for assists in a game with 20, the final of which came on this gorgeous inbound pass to Rudy Gay that sent the game to overtime:
Next up for Rondo, other than maybe Scott Skiles' NBA record of assists in a game (30)? How about a Sacramento-era record held by Chris Webber?
The most triple-doubles in a single-season by a member of the Sacramento Kings is five, a mark set by Webber in the 1999-00 season. Rondo already has four this season. In just fifteen games. And he's twice come up one or two rebounds short of his fifth triple-double.
The Sacramento-era qualifier is important, of course, because of the existence of Oscar Robertson. When it comes to total franchise record, it's hard for anyone to surpass the Big O.
Rondo's 20th assist = the game-tying alley-oop to send the game to OT! https://t.co/fAwAnVla8g
