Rajon Rondo has no idea he's setting Kings records -- or so he claims
There were skeptics when the Sacramento Kings added Rajon Rondo this offseason. We're guessing those concerns have long been laid to rest at this point.
Rondo has started this season in Sacramento on fire, especially when it comes to his wizardry passing the ball. He already set a new record for most assists in a game by a member of the Kings in the Sacramento era. And believe it or not, he needs just one more triple-double -- yes, less than 20 games into the season -- to match Chris Webber's mark for most in a season during the Kings' time in Sacramento.
But if you ask Rondo about his record-setting pace, he apparently won't know what you're talking about, as he told reporters (via the Sacramento Bee) that he doesn't pay attention to that kind of thing:
You can't really disagree with Rondo's assessment that wins are more important. But we find it hard to believe that a guy as smart as Rondo didn't have some sense about where he stands in Kings history -- and how soon he got there.
“Nah, I don’t know,” Rondo said. [...]
“No, I don’t keep track of them,” Rondo said. “I keep track of these wins, that’s the most important thing. I’m not really big on social networks and I don’t read newspaper articles, but I’ve got people who call me on the phone and tell me. But it’s all about the wins. It wasn’t about me getting that last rebound (in Milwaukee), it’s about getting the win.”
