Report: 59 players will be paid more than Steph Curry next season
Despite winning the 2014-15 MVP award and yet again setting the record for most 3-pointers made in a season, Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry won't be one of the highest paid players in the league next season.
In fact, at least 59 NBA players will be paid a higher salary than Curry will for the upcoming season, according to the Washington Post:
"In 2012, Curry signed a four-year, $44 million extension with the Warriors, who drafted the sharpshooting point guard with the No. 7 overall pick in the 2009 NBA draft. After getting the new deal, Curry emerged as one of the NBA’s rising young stars. During the 2012-13 season, he set the all-time league record for made three-pointers in a season with 272.
But even after the record, and after leading Golden State to 67 regular season wins and its first title in 40 years, the 27-year-old guard has yet to sign a blockbuster deal. According to spotrac.com, Curry will make $11,370,786 during the 2015-16 season.
Out of the NBA’s 30 teams, 26 have at least one player that will make more than Curry next season, and seven teams have at least three players that will make more."
