Report: Cavs players 'surprised' by Blatt firing, assumed Kevin Love had been traded

Cleveland Cavaliers players were reportedly so surprised by the firing of David Blatt that when a team meeting was called, some assumed it was to tell them that Kevin Love had been traded.

According to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, Cleveland players had no idea the move was coming. They simply assumed something else had happened.

Would it really be that much of a stretch? Sudden, sure, but Love has often looked like a square peg in a round hole under Blatt. Plus, he was pretty critical of the team last week.

Still, this underscores the apparent abruptness of the Blatt firing. It also adds credence to the report that LeBron James wasn’t involved in the decision – though he’d reportedly made his dissatisfaction with Blatt and preference for Tyronn Lue clear in other ways.
