Report: Justin Tucker agrees to a 4-year contract extension with the Ravens

Published Jul. 15, 2016 3:47 p.m. ET

Kicker Justin Tucker has agreed to a four-year contract extension with the Baltimore Ravens, according to a report from ESPN's Adam Schefter. The deal, worth a total of $16.8 million, reportedly includes $10.8 million in guaranteed salary.

The Raves had threatened to use the franchise tag on Tucker, but his agent told Schefter on Thursday that if that's the route they chose to take, Tucker would be playing elsewhere in 2017.

"Justin's disillusioned with the process right now and the Ravens position with him on his contract," Tucker's agent, Rob Roche said. "If we don't get a long-term deal done by Friday, Justin will not entertain offers from Ravens after the season."

Thankfully for the Ravens, the drama came to an end shortly before the 4 p.m. ET Friday deadline for signing an extension before the franchise tag kicked in.

Tucker, 26, has been one of the league's most accurate kickers since signing with the Ravens as an undrafted free agent back in 2012. He's 130-of-148 in the regular season since coming into the league, good for a conversion rate of 87.8 percent. Dan Bailey of the Cowboys has been the only kicker more accurate during that time, posting a conversion rate of 90.6 percent.
