Report: Kevin Durant does 180 with media: 'I love you guys'

As the Oklahoma City Thunder continue to win, star forward Kevin Durant has continued his personal feud with media in recent days. But on Sunday, before the Thunder recorded a milestone win, the 2014 MVP tried to rewrite the script.

According to ESPN, the outlet that reported Durant’s latest comments criticizing the media on Saturday, Durant approached reporters after Sunday morning’s shootaround, unprompted by any question by the media, and offered the following:

"I also got something else to say, if you guys don't mind. I've seen over the last couple of days, or couple of years, actually, that I hate the media. I actually do love you guys. If I hated someone, I wouldn't talk to them, I wouldn't interact with them, I wouldn't laugh and joke with them, I wouldn't talk about anything other than what you guys ask me."

Of course, nearly a year ago Durant offered up quite a different tune, telling reporters, among other things:

"To be honest, man, I’m only here talking to y’all because I have to. So I really don’t care. Y’all not my friends. You’re going to write what you want to write. You’re going to love us one day and hate us the next. That’s a part of it. So I just learn how to deal with y’all."

Durant’s remarks earlier this weekend included his perception that media doesn’t expect the Thunder to win with the core of Durant, Russell Westbrook and Serge Ibaka, now in its seventh season together, yet still without a championship.

But on Sunday, with the Miami Heat in town, Westbrook netted his fifth triple-double of the season, Durant added 24 points and 10 rebounds, and Ibaka had 19 points and seven rebounds as the Thunder won 99-74 to become the third team this season to get to 30 wins.
