Report: Kings reach four-year deal with Kosta Koufos

Published Jul. 6, 2015 11:52 a.m. ET

Kosta Koufos has been one of the best backup centers in the NBA for a few years now. He may have lost that title over the weekend when he signed with the Kings, for whom he could be the starter come the beginning of the season.

Details from ESPN's Marc Stein:

Koufos does slot next to DeMarcus Cousins, who could play the 4 or 5, but he doesn't exactly give the Kings the space within the offense they'd prefer around the best post threat in the league.

An ideal lineup to place around Cousins would probably pit the Kentucky product at center with four three-point shooters surrounding him. But if that's not an option, Koufos is a perfectly solid player to bring into town.

The former Grizzlies backup big averaged 5.2 points and 5.3 rebounds per game this past season in Memphis.
