Report: Lakers set to sign G Lou Williams to $21 million deal
The Lakers reportedly are making more moves in free agency.
One day after working out a trade to sign former Pacers center Roy Hibbert, Los Angeles also reached a deal with ex-Raptors guard Lou Williams, according to Yahoo Sports/FOX Sports 1 NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski.
The three-year agreement will be worth $21 million, Wojnarowski reports.
The 28-year-old free agent joins a deep roster of guards for the Lakers, including superstar Kobe Bryant and recent No. 2 overall draft pick D'Angelo Russell.
The team confirmed the move -- and the expected signing of forward Brandon Bass -- in a statement from GM Mitch Kupchak late Sunday.
Williams averaged a career-high 15.5 points and helped Toronto win a franchise-record 49 games in 2014-15, his lone season there. The Lakers have upgraded their guard rotation by adding Williams after drafting Ohio State's D'Angelo Russell with the No. 2 pick.
Bass averaged 10.6 points while playing all 82 games for Boston.
Deals can't be signed until Thursday, but general manager Mitch Kupchak says Sunday in a release that the Lakers are negotiating with both players and intend to sign them once the free-agent moratorium ends.
