Rights and Wrongs: Sacramento Kings Lose Close One To The Knicks

Published Jun. 30, 2017 6:28 p.m. ET

The Sacramento Kings lost to the New York Knicks tonight by a score of 103-100, completing the season sweep in favor of New York. Listed down below are the rights and wrongs that happened in tonight’s game.

Rights

Turnover Control: The Kings have been clumsy with the ball this season, as they average 14 turnovers per game. Tonight, however, the light blue and red did a good job in keeping the ball in their possession as they finished the game recording just 7 turnovers.

Points In The Paint: The Kings relied on the paint for their scoring production in this game, as they finished the match scoring 50 points in the interior. The Kings also outscored the Knicks in this category tonight, as the Knicks scored just 32 points in the paint.

Omri Casspi/Anthony Tolliver: The bench for the Kings was solid tonight, mostly due to the play of Omri Casspi and Anthony Tolliver. Both players showed their offensive production tonight, as they combined for 22 points off shooting 8-14 from the floor. Not bad for players that haven’t seen regular playing time this season.

Wrongs

Stopping Carmelo: Carmelo Anthony is clearly the star player for the Knicks this season, and in tonight’s game, he showed exactly that. The Kings were unable to contain the multiple All-Star tonight, as Anthony finished the game with 33 points.

Rudy Gay/DeMarcus Cousins: Both Rudy Gay and DeMarcus Cousins struggled tonight to put the ball in the bucket. Although the dynamic duo finished the game with 41 points total, they also shot a total percentage of 32.5% from the court (13-40).

Rebounding: The Knicks had a number of second chances granted to them tonight as they outmatched the Kings in the battle of the boards. The Knicks finished the game recording 54 rebounds (12 offensive boards) compared to the Kings who recorded 39 rebounds (6 offensive boards) for the night.
