Russell Westbrook's triple-double streak snapped in win over Celtics
Russell Westbrook had logged seven straight triple-double performances heading into Sunday's game against the Celtics, which was tied for the most by any player since Michael Jordan's similar streak back in 1989.
That run finally came to an end, as Westbrook finished with 37 points, 12 rebounds and six assists in the Thunder's 99-96 victory over a Boston team playing without its leading scorer in Isaiah Thomas.
Westbrook continued to do everything to help his team win, he just did most of it himself in the game's final stretch. He scored 13 points in the fourth quarter alone, including eight of his team's final 10. He also won a critical jump ball against Avery Bradley with 21 seconds left, which resulted in a dunk from Jerami Grant that helped put the game out of reach.
There was no stat-chasing from Westbrook to try to keep his streak alive. He was solely focused on doing what he could to help his team win -- just as he'd been for the previous seven games while putting up those historically great numbers.
