Sacramento Kings center DeMarcus Cousins is a nightmarish low-post brute whose game comfortably fits inside any and every era. The two-time All-Star is dominant in the paint, and knows how to control the tempo of an entire game by grabbing every rebound in sight.
But his sour attitude keeps him from soaring to unforeseen heights. It's something he's conscious of, and at All-Star Weekend Cousins delivered an all-time quote summarizing exactly how he feels about his appearance (via Sacramento Bee):
Cousins would tell you he’s not intimidating. But because he’s 6-foot-11 and 270 pounds, some easily might see him that way. “If I was shorter, I don’t think I’d be intimidating,” Cousins said. “They’d be like, ‘That’s a little ugly person.’ Because I’m big, intimidating.” Cousins is all about his game – disinterested with looking like a commercial star. Asked if he’d like more endorsement deals, he said, “I like to play basketball.”

Maybe Cousins is simply a misunderstood genius? Maybe Sacramento's toxic environment is the primary reason he looks so miserable sometimes? Sadly, we'll never know the answer until the Kings trade the poor guy or surround him with some legitimate talent. Hopefully that happens sooner than later.
