The Sacramento Kings shamelessly asked the Sixers to swap the No. 1 pick
The Philadelphia 76ers won the NBA Draft lottery Tuesday night and own the No. 1 pick in the 2016 draft, but there was a very small chance that the Sixers could have moved up to No. 1 even if they didn't win.
Back in July of 2015, the Sixers made a trade with the Sacremento Kings, who were looking to dump salary. Philadelphia gave Sacramento a future 2nd round pick and the rights to two overseas draft picks from 2015 who have yet to surface in the NBA in exchange for Carl Landry, Nik Stauskas, Jason Thompson and the right to swap draft picks with the Kings in 2016 and 2017. The Kings were widely ridiculed for making the deal at the time - and Sacramento pulled a massive upset and drew the top pick (there was a 1.9 percent probability of it happening), the team would have had to give it up.
After the Sixers won Tuesday, the Kings asked if Philadelphia was still interested in exercising its option and the Sixers had a perfect response.
So, @Sixers... still open to that pick swap right now? #NBADraftLottery pic.twitter.com/7e3cxund3J
