Utah Jazz: Rudy Gobert, Raul Neto Take On Turkey Day Mannequin Challenge

While enjoying Thanksgiving with Utah Jazz assistant coach Alex Jensen, Rudy Gobert and Raul Neto took part in a Turkey Day #MannequinChallenge.

It was Thanksgiving on Thursday and, if you’re like me, you ate entirely too much turkey and mashed potatoes, made awkward small talk at the dinner table and watched the Detroit Lions win with a last-second field goal. Then, despite everything in your body crying for sleepy time, you braved the crowds for Black Friday deals.

It’s the ultimate American holiday. And while they hail from Saint-Quentin, France and Belo Horizonte, Brazil respectively, Utah Jazz players Rudy Gobert and Raul Neto got in on the action.

The duo apparently spent Thanksgiving Day with Jazz assistant Alex Jensen and his family. However, the team’s international duo did more than chow down and talk about all the things they’re thankful for. Along with the Jensen clan, Gobert and Neto used the opportunity to take part in one of the latest viral trends.

Namely, the #MannequinChallenge.

For those of you not in the know, the Mannequin Challenge is defined on Wikipedia as a viral Internet video trend where people remain frozen in action like mannequins while a video is recorded, usually with the song “Black Beatles” by Rae Sremmurd playing in the background.

It’s as wacky as it sounds, believe me. But with Gobert, Neto and Coach Jensen taking part, I can get it into. The Stifle Tower posted a video of the group’s Turkey Day activities on Instagram with the caption: “Thanks to coach Alex for having us again. Happy thanksgiving ! 😂😂 #watchuntiltheend

I still don’t understand the Mannequin Challenge and despite his pleasant demeanor, seeing Neto peer silently and expressionless into the eyes of a Mickey Mouse plush toy as he holds it like a baby is the stuff of nightmares. Still, I have to give it up to the boys for rocking their parts.

I may not be hip to the trend, but I’m just glad they had a good Thanksgiving. Hopefully all of you did too!
