Utah Jazz: Updating Rodney Hood's Status After Latest Knee Injury
Utah Jazz shooting guard Rodney Hood underwent a precautionary MRI on Thursday after injuring his knee against the Milwaukee Bucks.
Things went just about as well as they could when Rodney Hood and the Utah Jazz hosted Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday. After a slow star defensively, the Jazz band zeroed in on the task at hand and secured a big 104-88 win on their home floor. However, Utah didn’t finish the contest unscathed.
Hood, appearing in just his third game after returning from a right knee hyperextension, was bit by the injury bug once again. While attempting a dribble-drive down the middle during the second quarter, the Jazz guard suffered another hyperextension of the same knee and was quickly removed from the game.
Following the game, Hood told reporters that his knee was fine. Nevertheless, he underwent an MRI on Thursday to make sure the knee has remained structurally sound.
As was the case with the initial injury, Hood may have dodged the bullet on major damage, but it looks like he’ll be missing more time.
Per an announcement from the team, Hood was checked out by Jazz doctors at University of Utah Health Care’s Orthopaedic Center. Scans showed a bone contusion of the right knee, as well as a Grade 1 LCL sprain.

More from Purple and Blues
Hood will be reevaluated in one week’s time; it had already been reported that he’ll miss Saturday’s showdown with Kemba Walker and the Charlotte Hornets.
While they’ve managed to post a 31-19 record and are holding down the No. 5 spot in the Western Conference playoff picture, injuries continue to kill the Jazz. Hood joins Derrick Favors, who has missed back-to-back games with knee issues of his own, as the most recent to fall.
The two have missed a combined 27 games to injury and/or illness this season.
