Warriors storm back from 22-point deficit to beat the Spurs and Kawhi Leonard
If Kawhi Leonard was looking to make his case as the 2016-17 NBA MVP, he missed a golden opportunity on Wednesday night.
The San Antonio Spurs stormed to a 23-3 advantage in the first quarter and led by as many as 22, only to watch Stephen Curry lead the Golden State Warriors all the way back to a 110-98 win. Curry topped all scorers with 29 points on 9-for-20 shooting (including 4-for-8 on 3s) and added 11 assists, while David West and Andre Iguodala chipped in for 29 points off the bench.
Golden State made a bit of history with the win, its 91st road victory over the past three years.

Leonard finished with just 19 points on 7-for-20 shooting, along with seven rebounds, five assists and five turnovers. Iguodala did an outstanding job of taking San Antonio's best player out of the game after that early opening run, and the rest of the Spurs were unable to pick up the slack.
The 64-14 Warriors were coming off a hard-fought 113-106 win over the Houston Rockets on Tuesday, which made their win in San Antonio all the more impressive. Golden State now holds a 3.5-game advantage in the race for the No. 1 overall seed in the playoffs.

Both the Warriors and Spurs will be in nationally televised games on Friday night, as Golden State hosts the Rockets and San Antonio visits Russell Westbrook and the Thunder. At least Leonard will have an opportunity to redeem himself against a fellow MVP contender in Oklahoma City.
