WATCH: Kings' Cousins brings family to tears with surprise -- a new car
It's the season of giving, and Sacramento Kings center DeMarcus Cousins has embraced the holiday spirit in a big way -- by surprising a family in need with a brand new car.
According to ABC 10 in Sacramento, Cousins approached the Kings for help in selecting a family to whom he could make such a donation. The team picked Selena Pina and Maurice Williams, a local couple who care for their 3-year-old daughter as well as Selena's younger twin sisters, who were abandoned by other members of the family, including their biological mother.
The result of Cousins' donation? You'll have to see for yourself:
The gift is awesome, and so is the reaction, of course. But let's not undersell Cousins' performance. His hushed demeanor in the vehicle as he's driving lets you know just how seriously he's taking this -- while still being playful -- and he masterfully navigates the vehicle into position without alerting the family. (Props to Slamson for acting as a decoy, too.) And the decision to honk in order to get their attention is pretty good, too, since there's no telltale slamming of a car door.
Good on Cousins and the Kings, and good on all the teams and players lending a helping hand this season.
