Watch Muggsy Bogues and Charles Barkley trick J.R. Reid into believing he was traded #tbt
Question: Who loves practical jokes? Answer: Muggsy Bogues, Charles Barkley, Rick Mahorn and definitely not J.R. Reid
The Charlotte Hornets selected Reid, a 6-foot-9 center, with the fifth-overall pick in the 1989 NBA draft. One year later, his teammate Bogues, along with Barkley and Mahorn, put on an elaborate ruse and convinced Reid that he was getting traded to the Philadelphia 76ers -- for Mahorn.
The whole thing was caught on tape and can be watched below:
Posted on the Hornets' NBA Reddit page, this scene comes from an old VHS tape called Pro Basketball's Funniest Pranks. It's a gem, and might be the first time Barkley ever said "terrible" on camera.
Reid was eventually traded four times in his 11-year career -- twice by the Hornets. He probably enjoys this fake one the most.
